Historical Matches
Historical Matches is a feature that shows members if they share any DNA with ancient or historical individuals whose genomes have been sequenced. In this feature you can read about the historical individuals and learn about where they lived, how they were discovered and other interesting details about the studies.
DNA Relatives Clustering
DNA Relatives Clustering is a tool that automatically groups your DNA Relatives based on how they’re genetically related to each other—not just to you. Instead of manually piecing things together, clustering provides a visual map of your family network, making it easier to track down shared ancestors, visualize family branches, and ultimately uncover hidden family connections. Advanced DNA Comparison
The DNA Comparison feature shows you the exact location of the DNA that you have in common with another 23andMe customer, and lets you take the next step in comparing your DNA with other relatives and profiles with whom you are sharing. For more information about this feature, visit this help article.
Reconstructed Ancestors
This feature uses segments you share with your relatives to help uncover and piece together the ancestry of your ancestors without needing direct DNA samples from them. By attributing DNA shared between members of your family tree to a common ancestor, we can reconstruct portions of their genome and from it, partial ancestry results. A complete profile typically includes around 7,500 centimorgans (cM) of DNA. Because your ancestors are reconstructed using DNA shared between individuals on your Family Tree, the more individuals who share DNA through a particular ancestor, the more complete the profile of the ancestor becomes. You can find more information about this feature in this help article.

If you’re an existing customer on the V5 platform, you can purchase a Premium Ancestry membership for $99/year.
I was genotyped on an old chip. Can I get Premium Ancestry features?
Membership features are only available to customers genotyped on the V5 chip. Customers genotyped on an old chip will need to purchase a Chip Upgrade to become eligible for any of our memberships. You can confirm which chip version you were genotyped on within the Personal Information section of your account settings.
Will I need to provide another saliva sample?
If you were genotyped on the V5 chip, you will not need to provide another saliva sample to be able to receive Premium Ancestry. However, if you were genotyped on an outdated version of our chip, you will need to purchase a Chip Upgrade (which involves providing a new saliva sample) to become eligible for the membership. You can confirm which chip version you were genotyped on within the Personal Information section of your account settings.
Can I cancel my membership?
Yes. You may cancel your membership at any time. Customers are eligible for a full refund within the first 14 days of purchase. Memberships are non-refundable after the 14-day window.
You can cancel and request your refund directly within your account settings. Once processed, your access to Premium Ancestry features will end and a refund will be issued to your original payment method. If you are unable to request this within your account, please contact Customer Care for further assistance.
If you choose to cancel your membership after the 14-day window, you will retain your membership until the end of your billing cycle (your membership expiration date). Once your membership period has ended, you will lose access to the reports and features that were provided to you under Premium Ancestry. You will retain the basic reports and features that you had access to prior to purchasing the membership.
